Als die ZACK-Leser im Juni 1980 die neueste Ausgabe ihres Magazins in Händen hielten, fanden sie dort nicht nur neue Abenteuer altbekannter ZACK-Helden wie Dan Cooper, Kai Falke oder Pitje Pit, sondern machten auch die Bekanntschaft eines neuen Protagonisten: Johnny Focus.
Der abenteuerlustige Journalist stammt aus der Feder des großartigen Attilio Micheluzzi und entstand 1974 für das italienische Jugendmagazin Corriere dei Ragazzi. Micheluzzi zeichnete 18 Episoden mit 10 bis 22 Seiten Länge in seinem ausdrucksstarken Schwarzweiß-Stil. Nach acht Jahren Pause schuf der Italiener weiter fünf Episoden, die ab 1982 im Magazin Orient Express zum Abdruck kamen. Inklusive der unvollendeten Erzählung Zakia Makuk liegen knapp 390 Comic-Seiten mit den Erlebnissen des ruhelosen Reisenden vor, die in vier Hardcover-Bänden veröffentlicht werden.
